Linear and Nonlinear Circuit Elements
Figure 11.1 (a) Circuit
of series-parallel circuit. (b) Series-parallel
on printed circuit board.
What is a Combination
Circuit?
Not all circuits are simple series or parallel
arrangements. Many are combinations of parallel
resistors connected in series with other
resistors or combinations of resistors.
-
A combination circuit contains both
series and parallel elements.
-
A simple combination circuit is shown
in Figure 11.1.
-
To determine which components are
in parallel and which are in series,
trace the flow of current through the
circuit.
-
Remember, a series circuit is one
that has only one path for current flow,
and a parallel circuit has more than
one path for current flow that means
the current will divide.
