SAM'04 Hotels and Accomodations


Participants must make their own accommodation arrangements directly with the hotel of their choice, or with the University of Ottawa residences. When making a reservation, it is necessary to specify the "SAM Workshop / University of Ottawa" in order to get the negotiated conference rate. Please note that June is a busy month in Ottawa, so it is advisable to make your reservation early.

All prices are in Canadian dollars. $1 CAN = $ 0.76 US = €0.62 Euro = £0.42 GBP approximately (March 10, 2004. See current rates).

An additional 12% tax (5% Provincial Sales Tax + 7 % Goods and Services Tax) is usually applicable to hotel rooms. However, participants from abroad can get such taxes reimbursed before leaving the country (this cannot be done at the hotel however). Reimbursment forms will likely be available at the workshop registration desk. The prices for the university residences already includes the taxes.

 University of Ottawa Residences

A block of 10 rooms has been reserved in the conventional residences of the University of Ottawa (Stanton/Marchand). They are located at 90 University Street, 5 minutes walking distance from the SITE building (see #1 on the campus map below). The residences do not provide the luxury of surrounding hotels, and they have shared bathrooms on each floor, but they are available at a much lower cost (prices in Canadian dollars, all taxes included):
