Abstract:

NOVELTY - A congestion window, slow start threshold (Ssthresh) and maximal sequence number are recorded at source node, upon receipt of specified number of duplicate ACKs indicating loss of data packet. In response to receipt of next duplicate ACK, if acknowledged sequence is greater than recorded sequence, lost packet is retransmitted, else, if packet is lost due to transmission error, the Ssthresh is reset to specified value.

USE - For flow control and congestion avoidance in wireless and/or mobile network.

ADVANTAGE - By resetting the Ssthresh to specified value, the congestion window can be recovered quickly to improve data throughput of TCP connections in noisy and long delay networks.
