CSI2131-2002: Final Exam Information

• Format and Topics
  The final exam will be worth 45 points.
  28 multiple choice questions (some 1 some 2 poins) ==> 46 points ( 1 point bonus)
  • 11 questions on pre-midterm material --> 19 points
    • 4 points - File processing in C++, fields and records, managing files
    • 6 points - Secondary storage devices and file systems
      (disks, tapes, CD-ROM, journey of a byte, buffering)
    • 4 points - File Compression
    • 5 points - Indexing, sorting and searching
  • 17 questions on new material (since mid-term) --> 27 points
    • 4 points - Cosequential processing and sorting large files
    • 6 points - Hashing
    • 5 points - Extendible hashing
    • 6 points - B trees
    • 6 points - B+ trees

• Practice exercises:
  Labs 10, 11 and 12 are particularly useful.

• Extra office hours before exam
