temperature | quantity | A measure of the average kinetic energy of the particles of a system. |
absolute temperature | temperature | Temperature measured on the Kelvin scale: 0 Kelvin = -273.15 ° Celsius. Absolute temperature is directly related to (kinetic) energy via the equation E = kBT, where kB is Boltzmann's constant. So, a temperature of 0 K corresponds to zero energy, and room temperature, 300 K = 27 °C, corresponds to an energy of 0.025 eV. |
