double radio source | has definition A radio galaxy, the bulk of whose radio emission comes from two sources on opposite sides of the visual galaxy. The radiation is presumably the result of an explosion in the nucleus of the parent galaxy, which caused the ejection at high speed of energetic particles in two opposite directions. About one-third of all known radio galaxies are double sources. | |
