This chapter describes some of the problems that data warehousing users, administrators, developers, and vendors face today
and illustrates how CWM helps to address these problems.
As stated in Section 1.5.3, “Generic Model,? on page 1-9, a design goal of CWM is to
be independent of any specific data warehouse implementation and to contain features that are effective and easy to use in
a broad range of representative warehouse configurations based on specific tools. The usage scenarios contained in this chapter
are provided to demonstrate that this design goal is met.
In addition these usage scenarios illustrate problem domains in which CWM is applicable.
